Orange County SC 1-1 Tampa Bay Rowdies: Player Ratings to the Theme of Leprechauns

This past Friday was St. Patrick’s Day, and to celebrate, Orange County SC hosted their first of four Beer fests at Championship Soccer Stadium on Saturday night. Oh, and the team also hosted Tampa Bay Rowdies (a year too late). The result: a lot of fans out of the stands, and a 1-1 draw. Orange County looked the more dominant team on the pitch, but too many missed opportunities to put the game away allowed Tampa Bay the opportunity to steal a point, which they did in the 82nd minute.

Since it was St. Patrick’s Day weekend, what better way to rate the players than by comparing them to some of the best (and worst) leprechauns in pop culture.

Due to a lack of time for me this week, I have only include the Community Ratings.

5 Stars: Lubdan (Leprechaun Move Franchise)

This is one leprechaun you don’t want to mess with. Lubdan is the the main focus of the Leprechaun movie franchise, which has spanned over 8 (yeah, I was shocked as well) films from 1993-2018. In that time, he has over 50 victims and an uncountable number of punchlines. Don’t mess with Lubdan.

No one for Orange County SC was as good as Lubdan.

4 Stars: Leprechaun (Notre Dame Mascot)

Mascots can be great, and mascots can be horrible. Some can be goofy, and some can be scary. Some are huggable, and some you try and avoid. There is one mascot you don’t want to mess with, and that is the Notre Dame mascot (from the logo, not the one cheering on the sidelines). This guy is just looking to knock someone, anyone out, so just stay out of his path!

Andrew Fox: 4

Kyle Scott: 4

Emil Nielsen: 4

Markus Nakkim: 3.8

Kevin Partida: 3.8

Cody Cropper: 3.5

3 Stars: O’Reilly (The Simpsons)

The Simpsons has been around longer than many Orange County SC fans have been alive (anyone under 34 years old), and during that time has introduced a number of characters to the public. Some of the obscure characters get multiple appearances throughout the series. One of those characters is O’Reilly, who has made over 15 appearances in the series, including The Simpsons Movie.

Brent Richards: 3.4

Dillon Powers: 3.4

Ryan Doghman: 3.3

Alex Villanueva: 3.2

Ashish Chattha: 3.2

Milan Iloski: 2.6

Seth Casiple: 2.5

2 Stars: Lucky (Lucky Charms)

When I first started researching leprechauns to include on this list, I thought Lucky was going to be toward the top, but after researching, I realized that he is pretty annoying. In my childhood, Lucky was a staple of my Saturday morning cartoons, with multiple moments of hearing “Their magically delicious” during commercial breaks. This was an era before streaming services and DVRs, so you were forced to watch the commercials. He did his job, which was to appeal to kids, but I can go without hearing his voice ever again!

Korede Osundina: 2.4

1 STar: Hornswaggle (WWE)

There was actually some debate this week after our show about Hornswaggle. I don’t think every member of the Orange & Black SoccerCast team would agree with him as a 1 star leprechaun, but this is where I put him. For more, check out this article from The Sportster: Hornswoggle Was The Worst Part of WWE for Years.

No Orange County SC player was as bad as Hornswaggle.
