Orange County SC claimed a powerful win over Phoenix Rising FC last weekend in a dominant performance against their rivals. This weekend, the club looks to build upon that performance and earn their first road win of the season.

2018 was a favorable year for Orange County, scoring six, allowing zero, and picking up all six points against San Antonio FC. This year looks to be no different, with Darren Powell’s side performing well below expectations heading into the tenth week of the season.

Chaos still reigns supreme in the Western Conference, with 11 points separating all 18 teams. Orange County is rounding into form, and after the win against Phoenix the team jumped up to ninth, just two points out of fourth. San Antonio FC currently sit in 16th, however, a win could see the team jump up as far as ninth place in the table.

Despite off-season moves that were meant to bring some defensive stability to a strong attacking side, San Antonio have only managed two clean sheets in nine matches. And while the team picked up three wins in April, last Sunday’s loss in New Mexico means that SAFC will again be looking to build some confidence.

For Orange County, nine players have featured on the score sheet through nine games. Matches have been exciting, with OC averaging a goal every 47 minutes. The return of Patrick McLain in goal has added stability to what is quickly becoming a resolute back line.

The match kicks off at 7:30pm (5:30 Pacific) at Toyota Field in San Antonio.

The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN+ in the United States.

Highlights:

  • OC’s 17 goal tally is fourth best in the Western Conference.

  • San Antonio has managed a 79% pass completion rate, amassing 3,669 passes.
