Match Preview: OCSC vs. Club Tijuana
Tonight marks the first Orange County home preseason match as the club takes on Club Tijuana’s U20 team for the second year running. For fans, it’s the first public preseason match after rain first cancelled the match against Andres Iniesta’s Vissel Kobe and forced a change of venue for the match against Toronto FC. For the coaching staff, it offers just the second proper match to evaluate the squad currently training.
OC played well against Toronto last Friday, but the team is likely hoping for a more clinical and exciting performance against the Mexican side. The younger opposition should also allow for trialists and those under contract to shine a bit more creatively.
Local goalkeeper Aaron Cervantes is likely to start in goal again, along with much of the first team, who will hopefully provide a strong and exciting early performance. Recently announced winger Jerry van Wolfgang is also likely to start as the first team gets more match time to solidify.
It will be a cold but clear night for the last time this week, with the match kicking off at 7pm. Tickets are required, but free, and available here. For those of you that can’t make the match, there will be no video stream, but Twitter updates are likely, both from the club’s official account and from ours as well.
Update 3:30 pm: We have confirmed that the entire roster is available for tonight’s match. Tonight will be the first opportunity for recently signed Harry Forrester to see some time on the pitch with his new team.
