Match Preview: OCSC Travels to Reno for Season Opener
It’s here! The first matchday of 2019. Expectations are high after last year, with both teams reaching historic highs. Both teams’ quality should lead to an exciting match. But there are some questions remaining, and today gives the club an opportunity to show Cloutier’s skill in the less-glamorous side of management.
Michael Seaton, Aodhan Quinn, Walker Hume, and Kevin Alston should be the first four names on the team sheet. Former Reno man Jerry van Wolfgang should also feature at left winger. But most other positions are up for grabs. Christian Duke’s long term injury leaves a big hole in the heart of the midfield, though Sebastien Des Pres seems the likely replacement after a successful preseason.
Rumor has captain Kevin Alston will be the starting left back, with Joe Amico sliding over and filling in at center back. The club has not announced any loan players yet, though they have hinted a centerback compliment to Hume and potentially a first team keeper.
Aaron Cervantes looked decently strong in the preseason, but not quite ready for the top of the USL. We expect recent unveiling Carlos Lopez to take the start today.
Regardless of the lineup, today’s match should be exciting and Orange County’s offensive prowess should prove too much for Reno. Reno’s own shakiness in offense should keep them from winning the game. If you’re watching at home, as always the game will be broadcast on EPSN+. And if you feel like cheering with a group, you can find the County Line Coalition at the Olde Ship in Santa Ana.
