IRVINE, Calif. (April 10, 2019) - Orange County SC notched their first win of 2019 on Saturday night, and despite the quick turnaround the team looks primed for another three point performance as they welcome the Tacoma Defiance, formerly known as Seattle Sounders 2.

Orange County has previously been successful against the side, taking 10 out of a possible 12 points over the last two seasons. While this season started with some uncertainties, the defense had a much improved outing over the weekend, picking up its first clean sheet and stifling attacks throughout the match.

The Defiance currently sit ninth in the table, notably earning three points against Sacramento Republic FC. However, the team has struggled to score, only notching four goals and having allowed ten thus far. With these defensive liabilities, they face a difficult test against an OCSC offense that presses high up the pitch.

OCSC have forced numerous errors from opposing defenses through press, resulting in dangerous chances. Darwin Jones is currently Orange County’s top goalscorer, and the winger will certainly look to continue his good form against his former side. Aodhan Quinn and Michael Seaton have also returned from injury, meaning that the OC attack should be firing together.

The match kicks off at 7pm Pacific in Championship Stadium at the Orange County Great Park. The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN+ in the United States.

Highlights:

  • Darwin Jones leads the Orange County attack with three goals from five shots on target, additionally contributing three key passes to his teammates.

  • Tacoma Defiance have managed just two shots on target and have yet to win when playing away from home.
