OCSC Heads North For First 405 Derby of the Year

Following the home draw against Austin Bold FC, the Orange and Black will head up the 405 freeway for the first 405 Derby of the 2019 season.

Both teams drew during Matchweek 11, and as such the two sides are separated by just one point in the standings, with Orange County in 13th and Los Dos occupying the last playoff spot in 10th. A win on Saturday could find either team jumping up multiple positions. If results elsewhere go their way, both teams can potentially move up to third place in the West.

Orange County is unbeaten in four straight league matches, with the win against Phoenix Rising marking the most impressive performance of the month. The team may consider themselves unlucky to have not come away with wins in the other matches, so the players are assuredly hungry for a decisive win and to start a dominant run of form.

2019 has seen an improved Galaxy II side, including back-to-back wins over fellow MLS2 side Timbers II and the Tulsa Roughnecks. However, their form has dwindled over the last few weeks, picking up a narrow win over Austin, a pair of draws, and suffering a shutout at the hands of Fresno. Inexperience seems to plague the side, with Los Dos fielding one of the youngest teams in the USL and routinely changing tactics and formations. As with many MLS2 sides, they are unpredictable and capable of surprises.

Orange County will have to be wary of their opponents, but the experience of players like midfielders Aodhan Quinn, Liam Trotter, and former Galaxy first team defender Leonardo should exemplify the differences between the two sides. With only one match this week, OC should be able to match the speed of their young opponents.

The match kicks off at 7pm at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson. The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN+ in the United States.

Highlights:

OCSC have scored at least two goals in nine of their eleven matches this season.

Los Dos have the third-worst goal difference in the Western Conference with -6.
