2024 Playing for Pride- OCSC Fantasy Team

For the last several years, Orange & Black Soccercast has participated in Pride Month, supporting Athlete Ally’s Playing for Pride campaign.. Originally it was just podcast team members participating but we started opening up the game to listeners as well.

If you’ve done this before and just want to get started, you can complete the form here.

How Does it Work?

You’re given a budget to build a roster of current Orange County SC team members. Each player has a cost and your 5-man roster must come in within that cost. You can choose less than 5 players, but not exceed the maximum.

You use the same 5-man team for the entire month.

How does my team earn points?

Based on each players stats per game, they earn points based on starts, playing any number of minutes, as well as actions based on the position. Goals, assists, shots, saves & clean sheets (GKs only of course), and can lose points for yellow/red cards, and several other factors.

Points are based on stats report to FBref.com, so if it’s not there, it didn’t happen

How much does it cost?

The game is free to play with Orange & Black Soccercast. The podcast team members will pledge a certain amount of a donation to Athlete Ally, anything from a flat amount to $1 per point up to a maximum amount.

You are free to donate or not, or to choose a different charity for your donation.

How will I know my points?

Each Monday’s podcast we will talk about the current standings of everyone playing, and we’ll do our best to post the week-to-week standings here on our website.

Are there prizes?

We are pleased to announce Orange County Soccer Club has graciously provided two prize packages this year:

  • A 4-pack of reserved tickets to an OCSC game (pending availability, some restrictions apply)

  • OCSC Pride Merch pack including 2024 Pride shirt and an OCSC Scarf

The non-podcast-team player who earns the highest point tally for the month will have their choice of the two prizes. Second place point scorer will receive the remaining prize from above. In the sign-up form make sure you list a valid email so the team can contact you once June is over. Team requires 24 hours notice to receive game tickets or pick up merch at a game.

Sounds great! Where do I sign up?

Follow this link and complete the form to pick your players. Remember to stay under budget.

You MUST submit your roster prior to starting line-up announcement of the June 1st Detroit City game to have points count for that game. You can submit a roster at any time, but will only score points for games AFTER your under-cap roster is submitted.

Good Luck and Thanks for Playing for Pride!
