Austin FC announced today that the Club has reached an agreement with USL Championship side Orange County SC for the transfer of goalkeeper Eric López.

Lopez, 24 years-old, from Westminster, California has been playing for Austin FC II in MLS Next Pro, prior to joining for Austin FC he was a member of the LA Galaxy organization with 65 appearances for the USL Championship side LA Galaxy II.

Fun Facts:

Playing for LA Galaxy Academy starting in 2012, Eric signed with Galaxy 2 in 2015 and played his first professional start against then Orange County Blues on August 20, 2016.

He was signed to the Galaxy first team for the truncated 2020 Covid Season but had no appearances with the first team, according to fbref.com

After Galaxy 2 unwound from USL Championship, Eric joined newly formed Austin FC II for the MLS Next Pro 3rd Division league.

Lopez was starting goalkeeper when Orange County visited Galaxy 2 in 2022 which ended in a 5-2 loss for Los Dos. He had 21 appearances in 2022 with 36 GA, for a 1.71 GAA.
